IEC EN 61249-2-1 Materials for Printed Boards and Other Attachment Structures - Part 2-1: Phenolic Cellulose Paper Reinforced Laminated Sheets

This part of IEC EN 61249 gives the requirements for the properties of economy grade, phenolic cellulose paper reinforced copper clad laminated sheets in thicknesses from 0,8 mm to 3,2 mm.

Some feature requirements may have several performance classes. The desired grade must be specified in the purchase order, otherwise the default material grade may be supplied. The copper clad face shall be substantially free of defects that may affect the suitability of the material for its intended use. Uneven surfaces often correspond to impressions of defects on the printing plates during manufacture, but they can also be caused by bubbles or inclusions of foreign particles under the sheet.

The uncoated side of a plate that is coated on only one side should have the natural appearance resulting from the process. Slight color irregularities are allowed. The gloss of the uncoated side should be the gloss imparted by the press plate, film or release plate used. Changes in brightness are allowed due to the influence of the pressure of the gases released during processing.
