IEC EN 61249-2-38 Materials for Printed Enclosures - Part 2-38: Copper Coated Halogenated Non-Epoxide Woven E-Glass Laminate Sheets for Lead-Free Installation with Defined Flammability

EUROLAB, together with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61249-2-38 testing. IEC EN 61249-2-38 gives the requirements for the properties of a copper-clad bifunctional halogen-free epoxide woven E-glass laminate sheet from 0,05mm to 3,2mm, defined flammability (vertical burning test). The glass transition temperature is defined as a minimum of 120°C.

The degree of flammability is achieved through the use of non-halogenated flame retardants that react to the polymer. Inorganic fillers can be used. Contrast agents can be added to improve processing, such as automatic optical inspection (AOI).

The uncoated side of the sheet, which is coated on one side, will have the natural appearance resulting from the curing process. Minor irregularities in color are allowed. The gloss of the uncoated face will be the gloss imparted by the press plate or release foil used. Changes in gloss due to the influence of the pressure of the gases released during curing are allowed.

Laminate should be cuttable or perforated according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Delamination at the edges due to cutting is allowed provided the depth of delamination is not greater than the thickness of the base material. Delamination is not allowed on the edges of drilled holes due to the drilling process. Drilled holes must be able to be completely covered without interference from any leakage into the hole.

Laminates laid under this standard will be qualified. A proficiency test should be carried out to demonstrate the manufacturer's ability to meet the requirements of this standard. The proficiency testing must be performed in a laboratory that complies with IEC laboratory requirements.

Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order, laminate sheets will be marked with the manufacturer's identification and lot number. The marking will remain legible during normal use, but can be easily removed before the material is used.
