IEC EN 61249-4-11 Materials for Printed Panels and Other Interconnected Structures - Part 4-11: Sectional Specification Set for Prepreg Materials - Woven E-Glass Prepreg with Defined Flammability

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61249-4-11 test. This part of IEC EN 61249 gives the requirements for prepreg properties which are mainly intended for use as bonding sheets in conjunction with laminates according to IEC EN 62326-4-61249 when producing multilayer sheets according to IEC EN 2-7.

This material can also be used to bond other types of laminate. According to this standard, Prepreg has defined flammability (vertical combustion test). The degree of flammability on the fully cured prepreg is achieved through the use of non-halogenated flame retardants as an integral part of the polymeric structure.

The Prepreg will be substantially free of defects that could affect the suitability of the material for its intended use. When deciding for the presence of broken filaments, their size and frequency of occurrence are important for assessing acceptability, but the flow characteristic of the prepreg must also be considered. Acceptance conditions for broken filaments will be as agreed between the user and the supplier.

When the Prepreg is tested according to test method 61189M2 (under examination) of IEC EN 2-29, the deterioration of the filler threads in the glass fabric should not exceed 300% as measured at any 10 mm test distance.

A number of features can define the thickness, reactivity, and rheology of the B-stage prepreg. The selection of features to be used as a quality and quality conformity test, as well as the nominal performance levels, are as agreed between the user and the supplier.

Prepregs provided under this specification will qualify. A proficiency test should be performed to demonstrate the manufacturer's ability to meet the requirements of this specification sheet. The proficiency testing must be performed in a laboratory that complies with IEC laboratory requirements. The manufacturer shall keep on file any data supporting that the materials meet this specification and be available for review upon request.

The supplier must implement a quality plan to ensure product conforms to this standard. Such a quality plan should, where appropriate, use statistical methods rather than batch-by-batch review. It is the supplier's responsibility to determine the frequency of testing to ensure conformity of products, based on the quality plan.
