IEC EN 61260-2 Electroacoustics - Octave Band and Fractional Octave Band Filters - Part 2: Model Evaluation Tests

EUROLAB, together with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61260-2 testing. IEC EN 61260-2 provides details of the tests required to verify compliance with all the mandatory specifications given in IEC EN 61260-1 for octave band and fractional octave band filters.

IEC EN 61260-2 Electroacoustics - Octave Band and Fractional Octave Band Filters - Part 2: Model Evaluation Tests

The tests and test methods apply to class 1 and class 2 bandpass filters. The goal is to ensure that all testing labs use consistent methods for performing model evaluation tests.

IEC EN 61260 did not provide any requirements or recommendations to account for measurement uncertainty in assessments of conformity to specifications. The absence of requirements or recommendations to account for measurement uncertainty created uncertainty in determining compliance with specifications for situations where a measured deviation from a design target was close to the allowable deviation limit. If compliance is determined by whether a measured deviation exceeds the limits, the end user of octave band and fractional octave band filters runs the risk of actual deviation from a design target exceeding the limits.

This version of IEC EN 61260-2 uses a modified criterion to evaluate compliance with a specification. Compliance is indicated if the measured deviations from the design objectives do not exceed the applicable acceptance limits and the measurement uncertainty does not exceed the corresponding maximum allowable uncertainty. Acceptance limits are similar to the tolerance limits for design and manufacture implied in IEC EN 61260.

Actual and maximum allowable measurement uncertainties are determined for a coverage probability of 95%. Unless more specific information is available, the assessment of the contribution of a particular filter or filter set to the overall uncertainty of measurement may be based on the acceptance limits set forth in this standard and the maximum allowable uncertainties.
