There are unofficial interconnection standards for satellite receiving equipment in Europe, North America and Japan, and they are not similar enough to allow a single common IEC standard to be reached.

The constant DC current source must be able to pass 40 mA to a 60 Ω to 180 Ω load resistor. Current in one direction corresponds to horizontal (H) polarization and reverse current corresponds to vertical (V) polarization.

The polarization is selected by varying the supply voltage of the LNB powered by the center conductor of the IF output cable. The supply voltage will be applied to the center conductor of the coaxial cable which also carries the IF output.

Output connector on satellite receiver for external decoder, decoder and conditional access system shall be as specified in IEC EN 61319-1.
