IEC EN 61326-3-2 Measurement - Control and Testing of Electrical Equipment for Laboratory Use - EMC Requirements

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61326-3-2 testing. This part of IEC EN 61326 covers all equipment covered by IEC EN 61326-1, but is limited to systems and equipment for industrial applications in a specific electromagnetic environment and is intended to perform safety functions as defined in SIL 1-3 and IEC 61508.

IEC EN 61326-3-2 Measurement - Control and Testing of Electrical Equipment for Laboratory Use - EMC Requirements

It results from the mitigation measures applied against electromagnetic phenomena that lead to a specific electromagnetic environment, with test values proven in practice.

An industrial application environment with a specific electromagnetic environment typically includes the following characteristics:

  • Industrial area with limited access;
  • Limited use of mobile transmitters;
  • Special cables for power supply and control, signal or communication lines;
  • Separation between power supply and control, signal or communication cables;
  • Factory building mostly made of metal construction;
  • Surge/lightning protection by appropriate measures (e.g. metal construction building or use of protection devices);
  • Pipe heating systems powered by AC main power;
  • No high voltage substations close to sensitive areas;
  • Presence of CISPR 11 Group 2 ISM equipment using only low power ISM frequencies;
  • Authorized personnel;
  • Periodic maintenance of equipment and systems;
  • Assembly and installation instructions for equipment and systems.

Equipment and systems considered "proven in use" according to IEC 61508 or "pre-use" according to IEC 61511 are outside the scope of this standard. Fire alarm systems and security alarm systems for the protection of buildings are outside the scope of this standard.

The electromagnetic field is the area where electrically charged and moving particles are under the influence of force. Electrons inside atoms spin around and around the nucleus, creating a force field with electric and magnetic field components.
