IEC EN 61924-2 Marine Navigation and Radiocommunication Systems - Part 2: Modular Structure for INS - Test Methods for Operational and Performance Requirements

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61924-2 testing. This part of IEC EN 61924 specifies the minimum requirements for the design, manufacture, integration, test methods and required test results of an integrated navigation system (INS) to comply with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements of Resolution MSC.252(83).

IEC EN 61924-2 Marine Navigation and Radiocommunication Systems - Part 2: Modular Structure for INS - Test Methods for Operational and Performance Requirements

The manufacturer must declare the equipment to be tested and the tasks and functions it performs. The equipment under test (EUT) must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's installation manual. Where equipment is split, the entire configuration should be tested together.

The manufacturer declares:

  • Relevant physical parts;
  • The location of tasks and functions;
  • General data flow between physical or logical parts;
  • Dependencies between tasks and functions.

If parts of an INS have been tested and documented to meet individual International Standards (for example, through individual type approvals), there is no need to repeat such testing. In such cases, relevant documents (eg certificates, test reports) must be provided.

Target association will be performed on all provided sensors/sources. Tools such as hysteresis should be applied to the association criteria to avoid undesired association or dissociation. For practical applications, it will be allowed to change the association and separation criteria from the default values. The user manual should explain the association parameters and options.

The priority selection for the association of individual resources will apply to the entire EUT. The selection can be changed by operator action for all EUT on any commissioned duty station displaying associated targets.
