IEC EN 62041 Transformers - Power Supplies - Reactors and Similar Products - Standard Test for EMC Requirements

Applies to transformers, reactors and power supply units covered by IEC EN 62041, IEC 61558 series standards. This standard deals with electromagnetic compatibility requirements for emission and immunity in the frequency range from 0 Hz to 400 GHz. There is no need to test at frequencies where no requirements are specified.

For associated transformers, associated reactors, and associated power supply units provided with or included with a device or equipment, the relevant EMC standard applies to that device or equipment.

This standard covers only normal operating conditions. Other operations of transformers, reactors and power supply units (for example, simulated faults or functional safety in test electrical circuits due to the effects of electromagnetic phenomena, or human evaluation of exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) are not considered in this standard.

Requirements are set for each port considered. If the requirements are different, the most severe takes precedence. This standard can also be used as a guide for individually testing transformers, reactors and power supply units before they are incorporated into a device or equipment.

This standard does not apply to:

• Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) under IEC 62040 (all parts);
• Power supply units covered by IEC 61204 (ie DC-DC converters, DC power and distribution equipment, and power supply units for use in applications covered by IEC 60950-1, IEC 61010-1, IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60065);
• Power supplies and converters for use with or with products covered by IEC 61347 (all parts).
