IEC EN 62153-4-16 Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) - Standard Test for Extending the Frequency Range to Lower Frequencies for Transfer Impedance - Attenuation Measurements

This method is valid for homogeneous screens, ie screens with a transfer impedance directly proportional to the length. The transfer impedance can have any frequency behavior, ie a behavior where it does not increase by 20 dB in ten years as observed for screens made of foil and mesh.

Transfer impedance is generally measured with a maximum coupling length of 100 m, resulting in an upper frequency limit of about 0,5 MHz, while shielding attenuation is usually measured with a coupling length of 2 m to 3 m, resulting in an upper frequency.

Knowing the frequency behavior of the triaxial setup can convert a shielding attenuation measurement to transfer impedance and vice versa. On the other hand, the results of the measured transfer impedance can be extended to higher frequencies.
