At any point in the audio signal chain, the audio data will be in a certain format. For management purposes, the format should be defined by an object identifier, either a "common control interface standard" object identifier defined in this standard or an object identifier defined elsewhere.
This clause defines a set of managed object types to represent control functions in network controlled audio equipment. The format of the definitions is as specified in IEC EN 62379-1.
For management purposes, a piece of audio equipment should be modeled as a set of discrete audio blocks and audio connectors as specified in IEC EN 62379-1. Each sound block can have zero or more inputs and zero or more outputs, and each input or output can carry one or more channels. Each audio connector will connect a sound block output to a sound block input with one-to-one channel mapping between blocks.
Each sound block must be modeled with one of the standard sound block types defined in this standard or with a sound block type defined elsewhere. Associated with each defined block type will be a (possibly empty) set of managed object types that represent control functions for that block. A block type must be defined by the node in the object descriptor tree that is the root node for the group of managed object types associated with that block type.
