Management messages must be transmitted in datagrams in an asynchronous stream as specified in IEC EN 62379-5-2. If such a service is not available, a connectionless datagram service such as UDP can be used.
Where a connection-oriented service is used, at least one call at each privilege level must be accepted by a target entity at any given time. Accepting more than one call at one privilege level will not prevent at least one call from being accepted at each privilege level.
Each physical connection to a network in a switch or end equipment must be represented using a network port block. A network port block will have one input for each outgoing media stream and one output for each incoming media stream.
