IEC EN 62580-2 Electronic Railway Equipment - Embedded Multimedia and Telematics Subsystems for Railways - Part 2: Video Surveillance-CCTV Services

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 62580-2 testing. IEC EN 62580-2 specifies the onboard video surveillance/CCTV system functionality and requirement for interoperability between components of onboard video surveillance/CCTV systems in the same vehicle and subsystems in different vehicles. The same train, i.e. two levels of interoperability are taken into account, one is interoperability between components and the other is between subsystems.

IEC EN 62580-2 Electronic Railway Equipment - Embedded Multimedia and Telematics Subsystems for Railways - Part 2: Video Surveillance-CCTV Services

This specification provides guidelines for:

  • System failure structure of the onboard video surveillance/CCTV system;
  • Function breakdown structure of the built-in video surveillance/CCTV system;
  • Embedded video surveillance/CCTV system requirement.

This specification applies to all types of trains, such as open trains, multi-unit trains, and closed trains.

The overall system requirement of the embedded video surveillance/CCTV system has been developed based on the IEC EN 62676 series, which complements the specific requirements for railway application. For the application of interoperability between components of the system and subsystems, this specification refers to IEC EN 62676-2-3, which specifies a compatible IP video protocol and interface based on Web services.

In addition to the network compliant with the IEC EN 61375 series, specific requirements for rail such as device discovery between sites and between sites are also defined here. In addition, IEC EN 62676-4 gives recommendations and requirements for selection, planning, installation, commissioning, maintenance and testing for use in security applications. Finally, if the system is for security purposes, the requirement of exported data of the embedded video surveillance/CCTV system is compliant with ISO 22311.

An embedded video surveillance/CCTV system usually consists of capture device, storage devices, display devices, analysis devices, etc. A single device can perform multiple functions. For example, an IP camera can capture the image, process it and transmit it over the network. It can also provide analysis function on data and temporarily store it.

Therefore, it is possible for an on-board video surveillance/CCTV system to physically consist of at least one camera. Alternatively, other devices in an embedded video surveillance/CCTV system can perform various functions. Therefore, no single physical device and its requirements are defined in this specification.
