This part of the IEC EN 62779 series defines a functional semiconductor interface type for human body communication (HBC). An interface for the HBC includes an electrode of physical construction for transmitting a data signal to or receiving a transmitted data signal from the human body.
An electrode makes direct contact with the human body in many cases, but cannot maintain the contact condition when there is an object such as clothing between the interface and the body, or when near-field communication is required. This section includes the categorization of the HBC interface by contact state; and specifies the performance parameters that characterize the interface of each category.
If an HBC interface has a different category, contact or non-contact type according to a contact condition, the contact status and type must be provided. An interface for HBC is a device used to transmit a data signal to or receive a transmitted data signal from the human body. Where possible, differences in the functions of each interface type will be given.
The type of packaging will be given, for example ceramic, plastic or glass. If available, the IEC or national reference number of the draft drawing shall be indicated. With respect to an electrode, the material properties and physical dimensions of the electrode should be specified.
The position of the electrode to be applied at an HBC interface should be given. Location-related details such as distances to a reference point in an HBC interface should be included.
