IEC EN 63044-5-1 Home and Building Electronic Systems (HBES) and Building Automation and Control Systems (BACS) - Part 5-1: EMC Requirements and Test Setup

IEC EN 63044-5-1 is a product family standard that specifies the minimum level of EMC performance for the HBES/BACS network in addition to the product EMC standards for HBES/BACS devices.

It also applies to devices used within a HBES/BACS network where there is no specific HBES/BACS product EMC standard. It also defines the EMC requirements for the interface of equipment intended to be connected to an HBES/BACS network. It does not apply to interfaces of other networks.

This standard applies to (but is not limited to):

• Operator stations and other human-system interface devices;
• Devices for management functions;
• Controllers, automation stations and application-specific controllers;
• Field devices and interfaces;
• Cabling and interconnection of devices.

During and after all tests, regardless of performance criteria, the device must not interfere with communication between other HBES devices or send unsolicited telegrams.

This standard applies as follows:

• If there is no applicable EMC product standard, the test setup, test levels and performance criteria of the IEC 63044 series apply;
• If a valid EMC product standard does not specify requirements for HBES applications, the test setup, test levels and general performance criteria of the IEC 63044 series apply. The specific performance criteria of the product standard apply;
• If a product standard specifies requirements for HBES, the test levels and general performance criteria of the IEC EN 63044 series should be considered the minimum level.
