ISO 11452-3 Component Test Methods for Electrical Disturbances from Narrow Band Radiated Electromagnetic Energy - Part 3: Transverse Electromagnetic (TEM) Cell

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of ISO 11452-3 standard. Developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), this part of the ISO 11452 standard is used to determine the immunity of electronic components of passenger cars and commercial vehicles to electrical disturbances caused by narrowband radiated electromagnetic energy, regardless of the vehicle propulsion system (e.g. spark ignition engine, diesel). TEM) indicates cell tests. The electromagnetic disturbances considered are limited to continuous narrowband electromagnetic fields.

Immunity measurements of complete road vehicles can often only be performed by the vehicle manufacturer, for example, due to the high costs of absorbent-lined shielded enclosures, the desire to maintain the confidentiality of prototypes, or the large number of different vehicle models.

For research, development and quality control, a laboratory measurement method can be used by both vehicle manufacturers and equipment suppliers to test electronic components.

The biggest advantage of the TEM cell method is that it does not dissipate energy into the surrounding environment. The method can be used to test the immunity of a field-coupled component to the harness, or the immunity of a stand-alone component with minimal exposure to the harness.

The upper frequency range limit of the TEM cell is a direct function of the TEM cell dimensions. A 0,01 MHz to 200 MHz TEM cell should be used to test automotive electronic systems. The user should specify the test intensity level or levels over the frequency range.

It is tested using a printed circuit board of suitable length or a set of leads fixed on a rigid support to position the device under test in the allowable operating region of the TEM cell. The printed circuit board or supported harness between the connector and the device under test will give repeatable measurement results if the position of the wires in the TEM cell and the device under test is fixed.

Among the services provided by our organization within the framework of material testing services, there are also ISO 11452-3 standard tests. Do not hesitate to contact our laboratory EUROLAB for your testing and certification requests.
