The support for the eyepiece shall be a steel cylinder with an inner diameter (35,0 ± 0,1) mm and an outer diameter (41,0 ± 0,1) mm. The roller will be placed on or part of a steel base.

The specimen is placed between two seat rings made of (35,0 ± 0,4) IRHD silicone rubber with (3 ± 3) mm inner diameter and 40 mm x 5 mm nominal cross-sections. The silicone seat rings are fixed to the steel backing plate and the load ring, respectively.

If the specimen eyepiece is insufficiently sized to ensure adequate support of its entire circumference, appropriate adapter sleeves should be used.
