The light zone is used for a brief viewing while placing the electrode in the source and igniting it. The dark area is used to view this welding process.
EN 166 requirements apply to welding filters. Only requirements that are different or complementary to the EN 166 specifications are given in this European standard.
Any zone separating the light and dark zones should not exceed 2 mm vertical depth along the horizontal length. This zone will provide at least the same protection against radiation as the dark zone.
