Standard Test for SAE J 517 Hydraulic Hose

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of SAE J 517 standard. This SAE standard provides general, dimensional and performance specifications for the most common hoses used in hydraulic systems in mobile and stationary equipment.

The general specifications in sections 1 to 12 apply to all hydraulic hoses and complement the detailed specifications for 100R series hoses later in this document.

This standard is to be used as a procurement document only to the extent agreed upon by the manufacturer and the user.

SAE J516, SAE J518, SAE J1453, etc. The maximum working pressure of a hose assembly consisting of SAE J517 hose and hose connections may not exceed the lower of the respective SAE maximum working pressure values.

SAE J517 100R9, 100R10 and 100R11 hoses are discontinued due to lack of demand.

SAE J517 100R1AT maximum working pressures have been replaced with S type maximum working pressures as of 2009, eliminating the need for 100R1 to be labeled as S type.

SAE J517 100R2AT maximum operating pressures will be replaced by S-type maximum operating pressures from 2009, eliminating the need to label the 100R2 as S-type.

SAE J517 100R16 maximum working pressures will be replaced with S type maximum working pressures by 2009, eliminating the need to label 100R16 as S type.
