EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of NIOSH 7907 standard. In NIOSH method 7907, similar to Method 7906, the sampler for the volatile acids HCl, HNO3, and HBr also includes a 37 mm diameter prefilter and a series impregnated filter; however, instead of cellulose nitrate, sampling filters consist of quartz fiber.
Sample collection is performed using typical personal sampling pump flow rates for filtration sampling at 2 liters per minute. Technically consistent with ISO 21438–2, the NIOSH 7907 procedure is intended to replace NIOSH 3 for the determination of HCl, HNO 7903.
With the application of NIOSH 7907, the impregnated quartz fiber filter collects HCl, HNO 3 and HBr vapor, while the pre-filter functions to capture potentially mixed airborne particles and mists. Ultrasonic extraction of chloride, nitrate or bromide from the impregnated quartz filter is then performed using a basic buffer solution.
