Pollen Species Analysis

Pollen is a mass of microspores that usually appears as a fine powder on a seed plant. Each pollen grain is a small substance of different shape and structure, which is formed in the male structures of seed plants and carried to the female structures where fertilization takes place by wind, water, insects and various similar means.

Pollen Species Analysis

Due to their high resistance to decay, dispersal by wind and water, and abundantly produced by plants, pollen grains are very common components of both new and old geological sediments. Because of these properties, pollen grains provide a great deal of information about the origin and geological history of terrestrial plant life. The structure of a pollen grain is usually very distinctive and in some cases the species can be identified by the pollen grains alone.

Tree pollen is the pollen from the flowers of a tree. These pollen are in different species. For example, birch pollen, oak pollen, pine pollen, alder pollen, hazel pollen, yew pollen, elm pollen, willow pollen, poplar pollen, ash pollen, sycamore pollen, and linden pollen. Apart from tree pollens, there are also grass pollen and grass pollen types. All of these pollens cause allergic problems in some people. Generally, inhaling pollen causes sneezing, nasal congestion and runny nose. Pollen exposure can also result in allergic conjunctivitis, which causes red, watery, or itchy eyes in some people.

At the same time, pollen analysis is a scientific method that reveals evidence of past ecological and climate changes. With these analyses, principles for strata of the earth's crust are combined with observations of actual (modern) pollen-vegetation relationships to reconstruct terrestrial vegetation of the past.

Its scientific scope is broad, as pollen analyzes include information from many disciplines, including botany, geology, ecology, climatology, and archaeology. The extent to which a pollen analysis study is inclined to botanical, ecological or geological questions depends on the sediments being analysed. Pollen analysis is used to assess recent vegetation changes.

Our organization also provides pollen species analysis services with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
