This European Standard specifies a test method and minimum requirements for the essential bactericidal activity of chemical disinfectant and antiseptic products that when diluted with water form a homogeneous, physically stable preparation.
Since some dilution is always produced by adding test organisms and water, products can only be tested at 80% concentration or less.
This European Standard applies to active substances (antibacterial biocides) and formulations under development, intended for use in the food, industrial, domestic and institutional, medical and veterinary fields.
It also applies to the assessment of the bactericidal efficacy of chemical antiseptics and disinfectants when appropriate standards are not available.
