Beeswax Analysis

Beeswax is a soft and yellowish substance that bees and other bees use in making honeycombs and secrete between their abdominal rings. Mixing pollen oils into honeycomb wax turns the white wax a yellow or brown colour. Beeswax is used to treat high cholesterol, pain, fungal and skin infections, and other ailments. However, there is no proven scientific research to support these uses.

In foods and beverages, white beeswax and absolute beeswax (alcohol-treated yellow beeswax) are used as curing agents. In manufacturing, yellow and white beeswax are used as thickeners, emulsifiers, and curing agents in cosmetics. Beeswax is used as a fragrance in the manufacture of soaps and perfumes. In pharmacy, white beeswax and absolute beeswax are used to polish pills.

Beeswax can help lower cholesterol levels, prevent infections, and protect the stomach from ulcers caused by drugs that inhibit non-steroidal inflammatory reaction and edema formation.

Female worker bees have 8 glands in their abdomens to produce beeswax when it's time to make the honeycomb. When the swarm bees set out to establish a new hive, they devour the honey they have stored in their existing hive in order to produce the wax needed to establish their new colonies. The bees then digest the honey and turn the carbohydrates into liquid wax. As soon as the secreted wax hits the air, it hardens and forms a wax scale. Under the microscope, the different layers of wax look like the rings of a tree.

Beeswax is a food-grade wax that develops its characteristic warm, yellow color as bees introduce different pollen into the hive, and is white when fresh. As a natural storage material, beeswax is difficult to eat.

Candles made from beeswax usually range in color from pale gold to rich, warm yellow, depending on bee pollination. These candles burn brighter and longer due to the high melting point of beeswax.

Meanwhile, due to the insufficient level of production, most manufacturers use artificial beeswax.

Our organization also provides wax analysis services with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
