EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 14644-13 testing. EN ISO 14644-13 gives guidelines for a certain degree of cleanliness on cleanroom surfaces, cleanroom equipment surfaces, and cleanroom material surfaces.

EN ISO 14644-13 Clean Rooms and Related Controlled Environments - Part 13: Test for Cleaning Surfaces for Particle and Chemical Classifications

Considered are all surfaces of interest (external or internal). It provides guidance on evaluating cleaning methods to achieve the required surface cleanliness by particle concentration (SCP) and surface cleanliness by chemical concentration (SCC) classes and which techniques should be considered to achieve these specified levels.

The suitability of cleaning techniques shall refer to the cleaning classes and relevant test methods found in EN ISO 14644‑9 and EN ISO 14644‑10.

The following general guidance topics will be provided:

  • Expected levels of surface cleanliness;
  • The suitability of cleaning methods;
  • Compatibility of surfaces with the cleaning technique;
  • Evaluation of cleaning suitability.

The term surface refers to the interface between two phases. For the purpose of this document, the surface is solid. “Clean surface” is where one or more contamination categories (particles, chemical) are under control due to cleaning/decontamination. Different cleaning methods are required, depending on the required degree of cleanliness (cleaning class).

This standard provides guidance on the selection of cleaning methods to achieve specified cleaning levels. For the selection procedure, surface definition, cleaning properties, types of contamination, cleaning techniques, material compatibility and evaluation methodology are taken into account. Most methods are suitable for simultaneous removal of more than one contamination category; therefore, a common standard is required for the selection of a cleaning method for both particulates and chemical contamination.
