EN 1499 Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics - Hygienic Hand Washing - Test Method and Requirements

All chemical weights given in this European standard refer to anhydrous salts. Hydrated forms can be used as an alternative, but the required weights should be adjusted to allow for subsequent molecular weight differences.

Reagents will be of analytical purity or suitable for microbiological purposes. They must not contain substances that are toxic or inhibitory to the test organisms. To increase reproducibility, it is recommended to use commercially available dehydrated material for the preparation of the culture medium. The manufacturer's instructions for the preparation of these products must be strictly followed. A time limit for use should be set for each culture medium and reagent.
