The method described in this standard includes a comprehensive analysis of 24 suspected volatile allergens; eg gas chromatography combined with mass spectrometry after dilution in an inert solvent. In this analysis, two assays are performed for chromatographic separation of 24 suspected allergens using two gas chromatography capillary columns of different polarities.
Suspected allergen identification is achieved using gas chromatography - mass spectrometry in scanning mode whenever possible. Quantification is performed with single ion tracking. The final result depends on the agreement of the different ion ratios obtained for both injections according to the specific requirements. Unless otherwise stated, only reagents considered analytical grade are used.
These analyzes allow the determination of the type and amount of volatile compounds suspected to be allergens in raw materials used in perfume compositions and cosmetic products. These analyzes are performed on gas chromatography, which are ready-to-inject mass spectrometry matrix samples compatible with gas chromatography.
A gas chromatography device equipped with a flame ionization detector is used in these analyzes. This instrument is used for calibration purposes only to determine the purity of reference samples and, if necessary, to set standards or measure highly concentrated analytes prior to quantitative analysis.
