ISO 3165 Industrial Use - Testing for Chemical Products

For liquids and gases, it should be ensured that the sampling point is isolated as much as possible from the stack or line by a valve close to, but not immediately adjacent to, the sampling point so that flow can be controlled in the event of an accident.

When it is necessary to clean or rinse a sample container with the material to be sampled and this material presents a hazard, appropriate facilities should be provided for the disposal of the material used in the disposal. Gases should be removed from the vicinity of the sampler and other personnel.

Equipment, including all instruments and containers, shall be compatible with the material being sampled and fit for its intended use. For example, the sample container must be tightly closed and equipped with a pressure relief. Samples should be kept away from other chemical products that may interact with them.
