OECD 105 Testing of Chemicals - Standard Test Method for Water Solubility

This guide is for the determination of water solubility of essentially pure substances that are stable and non-volatile in water. Before determining the solubility in water, it is useful to have some preliminary knowledge of the substance, such as the structural formula, vapor pressure, dissociation constant, and hydrolysis as a function of pH.

The column elution method and the bottle method are described, covering solubilities below and above 10-2 g/l, respectively. The test is preferably carried out at 20 ± 0,5°C. A simple pretest is allowed to approximate the appropriate amount of sample to use in the posttest and the time required to achieve saturation.
