This standard specifies a method using cyclohexanone for the determination of the mass percentage of chlorofibre, modacrylic, elastane, acetate and triacetate in textiles made from acetate, triacetate, chlorofibre, some modacrylics, some of their mixtures, after removal of non-fibres.
It is also possible to analyze blends containing chlorofibre using the test methods described in EN ISO 1833-13 or EN ISO 1833-17.
Acetate and triacetate fibres, chloro fibres, certain modacrylics and certain elastanes are melted with cyclohexanone from a known dry mass at a temperature close to the boiling point. The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed. Its mass, adjusted if necessary, is expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. It is found in chlorofiber, modacrylic, elastane, acetate and triacetate percentage difference.
Place the extraction vessel in which the filter crucible containing the sample and the slightly inclined mesh chamber were previously placed. Install the reflux capacitor. Boil and continue extraction for 12 minutes at a rate of at least 60 cycles per hour.
Do not aspirate during or between wash cycles. Let the liquid flow under gravity and then apply vacuum. Finally, dry the crucible with the residue, then cool and weigh.
