EN ISO 1833-14 Textile - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 14: Standard Test for Mixtures of Acetate with Other Specific Fibers

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 1833-14 testing. This standard specifies a method using glacial acetic acid for determining the mass percent of acetate in textile products after removal of the non-fibrous material.

It is also possible to analyze mixtures containing acetate using the test methods described in EN ISO 1833-3 or EN ISO 1833-9.

Acetate is dissolved with glacial acetic acid from a known dry mass of the mixture. The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed; is expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The difference is the percentage of acetate.

Transfer the residue to the filter crucible, aspirate and rinse the crucible and the residue with 100 ml of acetic acid and then three times with water. After each rinse, allow the liquor to drain from the ladle under gravity for approximately 2 minutes before draining using suction.

The confidence limits of the results obtained by this method on a homogeneous mixture of textile materials are not greater than ±95 for the 1% confidence level.
