It does not include details of recording building features that must be made prior to any microbiological measurement or field inspections by qualified professionals.
ISO 16000-19 does not apply to a detailed description of building physics and building engineering procedures applicable to field inspections. The methods and procedures presented do not allow for quantitative exposure assessments for occupants.
Mold concentration in local ambient air is mainly determined by location relative to relevant mold sources, wind direction and wind strength. Mold spores are often released by certain sources, such as rotting material. Both natural processes and manufacturing processes, such as composting, recycling, animal production facilities, grain and food processing facilities, and horticultural facilities, can be sources of mold spread.
Due to the ubiquity of molds, it can be assumed that they are always in the indoor mood. The presence of molds in indoor air can be caused, on the one hand, by spores from the ambient air, and on the other hand, recent active mold growth, pre-existing moldy conditions or mold deposits (resident spores). To distinguish between sources, therefore, it is important to use ambient air measurements as a reference when making indoor air measurements for molds. Additionally, obtaining a control sample from an appropriate reference chamber may be helpful.
