EN ISO 1833-8 Textile - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 8: Test of Acetate and Triacetate Fiber Blends

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 1833-8 testing. EN ISO 1833-8 specifies a method using acetone to determine the percentage of acetate after fiberless material removal in textiles made from binary blends of acetate and triacetate fibers.

EN ISO 1833-8 Textile - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 8: Test of Acetate and Triacetate Fiber Blends

Acetate fiber is dissolved from a known dry mass of the mixture with aqueous acetone. The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed; Its adjusted mass is expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The difference is the percentage of acetate.

Add 80 ml of aqueous acetone per gram of sample to the sample in the flask, shake the bottle on a mechanical shaker for 1 hour, and then drain the liquid from the weighed filter crucible. Add 60 ml of aqueous acetone to the residue in the bottle, shake by hand and drain the liquid from the filter crucible.

Repeat this process two more times, transferring the fibers to the ladle for the last time. Wash the remaining fibers in the crucible with aqueous acetone and drain using suction. Refill the crucible with aqueous acetone and allow it to drain under gravity.
