EN ISO 1833-16 Textile - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 16: Standard Test for Blends of Polypropylene Fibers with Certain Other Fibers (Method Using Xylene)

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 1833-16 testing. This standard specifies a method using xylene to determine the mass percent of polypropylene, after removal of the non-fibrous material, in textiles made from mixtures of:

EN ISO 1833-16 Textile - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 16: Standard Test for Blends of Polypropylene Fibers with Certain Other Fibers (Method Using Xylene)

Wool, animal hair, silk, cotton, viscose, cupro, modal, lyocell, acetate, triacetate, polyamide, polyester, acrylic, fiberglass, elastomultiester, melamine and polyacrylate, along with polypropylene fibers.

The polypropylene fiber is dissolved by boiling xylene from a known dry mass of the mixture. The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed; the corrected mass if necessary, expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The difference is the percentage of polypropylene.

For homogeneous mixtures of textile materials, the confidence limits of the results obtained by this method are not greater than ±95 for the 1% confidence level.
