OECD 301F Test for Biodegradation, Standard Test for O2 Consumption

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of OECD 301F testing. OECD 301F is a solution aerobic biodegradation test that determines the biodegradability of a material by measuring oxygen consumption.

OECD 301F Test for Biodegradation, Standard Test for O2 Consumption

OECD 301F is mostly used for insoluble and volatile materials challenged by the OECD 301B test. The purity or proportions of the main components of the test material are important for calculating the Theoretical Oxygen Demand (ThOD).

Similar to other 301 test methods, standard tests for the OECD 301F are 28 days minimum and can measure ready or final biodegradability.

For a product to be classified as readily biodegradable, it must meet the ready-made biodegradability requirements specified by the method. Final biodegradation provides the closest estimate of the total amount of material to be biodegraded, provided it meets the requirements determined by the final biodegradation method.

Biodegradability testing can pose additional challenges from material formulation. A material has many chemical and physical properties that can affect its biodegradability results.
