Optical Emission Spectroscopy

Optical Emission Spectroscopy or OES analysis is a fast method to determine the elemental composition of various metals and alloys. The chemical analysis laboratories of EUROLAB are equipped and ready to evaluate the properties of your material, as well as to support the OES.

Optical Emission Spectroscopy

OES analysis uses a spark process that involves applying an electric charge to the sample and evaporating a small amount of material. When this spark occurs, a different chemically signed discharge plasma is created that allows our specialists to determine the elemental destruction of the sample.

Things to Consider in Optical Emission Spectroscopy

Optical emission spectroscopy is an ideal choice for applications requiring complete, quantitative disintegration of solid material. The best types of materials for OES analysis are soft enough metals to respond to the spark process. Harder metals that can be resistant to sparks are more suitable for other chemical analysis methods. Inherent accuracy and fast delivery make OES analysis the ideal choice for lot verification testing of a wide variety of alloys.

From trace metal identification to comprehensive failure analysis programs, our experts provide the precision required by your project.

As part of our On-Site Metallographic Analysis, EUROLAB offers on-site Optical Emission Spectroscopy services for full chemical analysis of all metal alloys. Our specialists use the Arc Spark OES (point leveling) method to create electrical spark that causes optical radiation at very specific frequencies (emission lines) that melt and evaporate the metal surface.

Through an optical system, we can measure the density of frequencies and determine the chemical composition of the metal on the surface. Among our capabilities are more demanding on-site analyzes, including UV light elements such as C, P, S and Sn, where the test chamber is cleaned with 99.998% pure Argon.

For non-removable materials or non-removable parts, our on-site OES analysis provides fast and accurate results while providing cost-effective solutions.
