Paraben (Paraben-Free) Test

Parabens are a group of preservative synthetic chemical compounds used in cosmetics, personal hygiene products, some foods and medicines. Parabens are particularly effective in preventing the formation of fungi, bacteria and yeast that cause these products to spoil. Paraffin added to the content of these products extends the shelf life of the products, makes the products safe for consumers and therefore directly contributes to the quality of the products.

Paraben (Paraben-Free) Test

Parabens are derived from para-hydroxybenzoic acid, which occurs naturally in fruits and vegetables such as cucumbers, cherries, carrots, blueberries and onions. This chemical compound is also formed naturally by the breakdown of some amino acids in the human body. The parabens in the formulation of cosmetic products have the same properties as those found in nature, and the human body rapidly converts them to natural para-hydroxybenzoic acid and eliminates them.

In fact, parabens have been used safely as preservatives in the food, pharmaceutical, personal care and cosmetic industries for more than a hundred years. Parabens, the main types of which are methylparaben, ethylparaben, propylparaben, butylparaben, isopropylparaben and isobutylparaben, are used in cosmetics, moisturizers, hair care products and shaving products.

Parabens and similar preservatives are used in cosmetic products to protect both consumers and product integrity. Their main function is to protect the product against microbial growth, ie against bacterial or fungal growth.

In the food industry, parabens have been used as preservative and anti-microbial agents for more than fifty years. Blueberries and some fruits naturally contain parabens. In the food industry, parabens are widely used in confectionery, grain-based snacks, dried meats and many other foods.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recognizes a number of parabens as generally safe. In addition, this organization has recognized that parabens used in cosmetics are safe even at very high doses. Generally, parabens are used in cosmetic products at levels ranging from 0.01-0.3 percent.

However, some research shows that parabens are endocrine disrupting chemical compounds, also known as hormone-mimicking chemicals. This means that the body will treat paraben like a hormone. For example, parabens have been found in breast cancer cells, meaning that parabens can act like estrogens in the body.

Additives in food and personal products are increasingly being studied as the rate of some types of cancer has increased. Although there is no evidence that using cosmetic products containing parabens increases the risk of cancer, consumers are still concerned. Studies have shown that parabens are endocrine disrupting chemicals and they are very unlikely to cause breast cancer. Especially in people who are more sensitive to parabens. In this regard, using paraben-containing products in moderation is a way to avoid unpredictable health problems.

Our organization provides paraben (paraben-free) testing services to demanding enterprises within the framework of national and international standards, with a trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among numerous testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies.
