EN ISO 1833-20 Textile - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 20: Standard Test for Blends of Elastane and Some Other Fibers

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN ISO 1833-20 testing. This standard specifies a method using dimethylacetamide to determine the mass percent of elastane after removal of the non-fibrous material in textiles made from mixtures of:

EN ISO 1833-20 Textile - Quantitative Chemical Analysis - Part 20: Standard Test for Blends of Elastane and Some Other Fibers

Cotton, viscose, cupro, modal, lyocell, polyamide, polyester or wool fibers in combination with certain elastane fibers.

This method is not applicable when acrylic fibers are present. It is also possible to analyze blends containing certain elastane fibers using the test methods described in EN ISO 1833-12 or EN ISO 1833-21.

The elastane fiber is dissolved from a known dry mass of the blend with dimethylacetamide (DMA). The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed; the corrected mass if necessary, expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The percentage of elastane is found by difference.

All textile products are based on fiber. Fiber is the raw material of textile products and is the smallest building block. Fiber is a basic textile raw material suitable for bending, weaving, spinning and being used by people for many purposes.
