Triacetate, polypropylene, elastolefin, melamine, polypropylene/polyamide bicomponent and polyacrylate fibers with acetate.

Acetate fiber is dissolved with benzyl alcohol from a known dry mass of the mixture. The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed; Its adjusted mass is expressed as a percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The difference is the percentage of acetate.

Filter the contents of the vial through the same weighed filter crucible and repeat the cycle a third time with a third 100 ml portion of benzyl alcohol. Pour the liquid and residue into the same weighed filter crucible; Wash all fibers from balloon to crucible with an extra amount of benzyl alcohol at (52 ± 2)°C. Empty the crucible using suction. Transfer the fibers to a bottle, rinse with ethanol and strain through the same filter pot after shaking by hand.

The confidence limits of the results obtained by this method on a homogeneous mixture of textile materials are not greater than ± 95 for the 1% confidence level.
