Standard atmospheric conditions for characterizing combustible dusts are:

  • Temperature -20°C to 60°C;
  • Pressure 80 kPa (0,8 bar) to 110 kPa (1,1 bar);
  • Air with normal oxygen content.

The described test methods do not apply to:

  • Accepted explosives, propellants (eg gunpowder, dynamite) or substances or mixtures of substances which in some cases may behave similarly;
  • Explosive and propellant powders or pyrophoric substances that do not require atmospheric oxygen for combustion.

Changes to a standard classified as "extension" refer to changes to a previous standard that add new technical requirements or change existing technical requirements to give new options, without increasing requirements for equipment that is fully compliant with the previous standard. Therefore, these "extensions" will not need to be considered for products conforming to the previous edition.
