Product Formulation Identification Test

Before developing any product formulation, businesses essentially want to research similar products and identify their strengths and weaknesses and understand what changes are needed to make their own products stand out. Product formulation is a fundamental step in a product's life cycle. It requires an interdisciplinary approach with processes and controlled techniques. With its know-how in material processing and manufacturing, product formulation ensures that effective ingredients are delivered in a functional, safe and usable manner.

Product formulation involves understanding how different raw materials behave and interact to provide enhanced properties and processing in a convenient and usable format. If a formulation is not well designed, interactions with the environment or other raw materials can have a strong impact on the quality and stability of the product.

For example, when formulating a cosmetic product, many aspects are analyzed in parallel. Changing one component can have a simplifying effect on others. To solve this, advanced laboratories use extensive formulation techniques to develop a fit-for-purpose product, meeting customers' requirements and offering advanced features.

One of the commonly used methods in this regard is the FTIR-ATR method (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy - attenuated total reflection method). FTIR is any Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy method in any measurement geometry (transmission, reflection). ATR stands for attenuated total reflection and was developed to increase surface sensitivity since infrared spectroscopy is a batch method.

Another widely used method in product formulation identification tests is the MALDI-TOF MS method. With this method, many different biomolecules such as nucleic acids, peptides, proteins, sugars and small molecules are detected. This technology identifies microorganisms through the generation of fingerprints of highly abundant proteins and subsequent correlation with reference spectra in a database. As in all mass spectrometric methods, the basic principle is the ionization of a neutral molecule and the subsequent accurate determination of the primary ions and their decay products at high vacuum.

Our company also provides product formulation identification services with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, among the numerous test, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies it provides for businesses in various sectors.
