The ANSI / ISEA 107 standard, developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), describes the features and testing methods of high-visibility safety clothing. In the latest update, the American high-visibility public safety vest standard and national ANSI / ISEA 207 requirements were combined. Depending on the visible material and design features, three performance outfits are presented in the final form of the standard and the types of clothing are defined according to the expected usage purposes and the activities performed. The ANSI / ISEA 207 standard allows clothing sized to fit small workers and offers features for accessories such as gloves and armbands.
This standard details performance requirements for all materials used in making compatible high-visibility safety clothing. It also specifies the labeling requirements to identify what they will wear according to their performance class, type and flame resistance characteristics defined in the standard. It also provides examples of clothing configurations to show compatible and incompatible designs.
ANSI / ISEA 107 standardTo comply with the background material of a garment and back-reflective or combined performance materials must be tested by an accredited laboratory. The manufacturer must verify that the protective clothing meets all the requirements of the standard.
For the certification of high-visibility clothing, reflective material and background materials, the following is required: background material test report, combined performance and back reflective material test report and declaration of conformity.
