BS EN 14605 Performance Characteristics for Garments That Protect Only Part of the Body Against Liquid Chemicals

EN 14605, a European standard, describes the requirements and test methods for protective clothing against liquid chemicals. This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following heading: TS EN 14605 Protective clothing - Against liquid chemicals - Attachments (including type pb3 and type pb4) that protect only part of the body (type 3) or performance properties for spray-proof (type 4) clothing.

The standard describes minimum requirements for the following limited use types and reusable chemical protective clothing:

• They will wear different parts of the clothing (they will wear type 3 liquid-proof clothing) and full-body protective clothing with fluid-tight connections, if any, and clothing with fluid-proof connections to component parts such as hoods, gloves, boots, visors or respiratory protective equipment in other European standards.
• Full-body protective clothing (type 4 spray-proof clothing) with spray-tight connections between the different parts of the clothing, and spray-proof connections to component parts such as headgear, gloves, boots, visors or breathing, and other European standard protective equipment.
• They will wear partial body protection that protects certain areas of the body against the penetration of chemical fluids. For example lab coats, jackets, trousers, aprons, sleeves and hoods.

As the partial body protection leaves some parts of the body unprotected, this standard only specifies the performance requirements for clothing material and stitches. They will only wear partial body chemical protectors that protect against the penetration of chemical liquids, It is within the scope of EN 13034 standard.
