ISO / TR 2801 Heat and Fire Protective Clothing

Developed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), the ISO / TR 2801 standard has been published to explain the performance characteristics and test methods of protective clothing used against heat and fire. This standard has also been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) under the following heading: TSE ISO / TR 2801 Heat and fire protective clothing - General rules for the selection, maintenance and use of protective clothing.

The standard in question guides for the selection, use and maintenance of protective clothing designed to protect against heat and flame. This standard has been prepared by the technical committee of ISO / TC 94 “Personal safety - Protective clothing and equipment”.

ISO / TR 2801 standard deals with employees who are exposed to risks related to heat and flame, such as welding staff or firefighters. The purpose of this standard is to highlight the main areas an enterprise should consider. The substance lists in the standard are provided for guidance only and do not contain much detail.

ISO / TR 2801 standard does not have normative references, all references are informative only. Annex to the standard contains details of the current international standards for clothing designed to protect against heat and flame.

From the standard of protective clothing, the process of defining the level of protection required for each activity should include:

• Determining which parts of the body require protection
• Defining the appropriate standard or method to provide the necessary protection
• Determining relative or absolute protection levels required for each of the protective clothing
