Meltblown Fabric Tests - Waterproof Test

Meltblown fabrics have strong waterproofing properties as well as strong filtering properties. In the liquid absorbent hygiene and care products group, adult diapers, baby and diapers, tampons, sweat pads, breast pads, feminine hygiene ties, waterproof mattress covers and urine-retaining diapers are produced. The use of nonwoven surface products is always preferred in the production of these products. Manufacturers focus on the use of nonwovens, especially because it is environmentally friendly, low-cost and high in added value. The most common use in this area is in meltblown fabrics. In the production of diapers and diapers, the use of nonwoven surfaces is increasing and generally the upper face, liquid barrier and lower face fabrics are meltblown fabrics. These fabrics have hydrophobic (water avoidance) or hydrophilic (water retention) properties to provide liquid impermeability and dryness.

Meltblown Fabric Tests - Waterproof Test

Hydrophilic fabrics have a structure that absorbs water quickly. By using certain chemicals in textile products, products with properties that absorb the liquid and transfer it to the back surface are obtained. Demand for such fabrics is increasing, especially in the production of technical textiles. The use of hydrophilic fabrics is increasing, especially in disposable hygiene and care products. Today, in disposable products such as spunbond + meltblown + spunbond, the surface layers absorb liquid, while the meltblown layer can hold more liquid. For this reason, spunbond fabric is used in outer and inner layers and meltblown fabric in the middle layer.

As with all textile materials, the waterproof properties of meltblown fabrics are determined by the International Standards Organization (ISO). It is made in accordance with the published ISO 811 standard. In this standard, the resistance properties of textile products against water penetration are explained and test methods are presented (TS EN ISO 811 Textile - Determination of resistance to water penetration - Hydrostatic pressure test).

With the said test method, a hydrostatic pressure test method is performed to determine the resistance of fabrics to water penetration. This test method is applied to all types of fabrics, including meltblown fabrics. This test method is valid for fabrics used in the production of protective materials such as headgear, gloves, clothing, masks, gowns and overalls used for medical purposes.

Our organization, among numerous testing, measurement, analysis and evaluation studies, with its trained and expert staff and advanced technological equipment, provides waterproofing testing services within the scope of meltblown fabric testing services to demanding healthcare organizations and manufacturers within the framework of national and international standards.
