ASTM D6124-06 Standard Test Method for Residual Dust in Medical Gloves

The ASTM D6124 standard published by the American Testing and Materials Organization (ASTM) describes residual powder (powder) properties and test methods in gloves used for medical purposes. The full name of this standard, updated in 2017, is as follows: ASTM D6124-06 Standard test method for residual dust in medical gloves.

Said test method is designed to quantify residual dust and non-dust solid particles in medical gloves. This test method is the appropriate test method for evaluating medical glove samples. The mass found using the second test procedure for powdered gloves is considered to be a combination of water-insoluble residue and old separating agents remaining after production.

Briefly, the test method described in this standard is used to determine the average dust or filter held mass on a medical glove sample. At the end of the test, the average powder mass per glove is determined in milligrams. However, the safe and correct use of medical gloves is not covered by this test method.

This standard does not take into account safety concerns regarding the use of medical gloves. It is directly the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health and environmental practices and to determine the applicability of legal restrictions.
