The hard steel tear-off blade has a ground wedge-shaped tip with a radius of curvature that ensures it is not sharp but can pierce test materials. The main body of the knife is 3 mm thick and the lower surface is half round. This lower surface causes blunt tearing in the test specimen measured in the test.
