EN ISO 6529 Protective Clothing, Test for Chemical Protection

This standard specifies continuous or intermittent contact of materials used in protective clothing, including gloves and shoes, when the shoe is an integral part of the garment.

Method A can be applied to tests against volatile or water-soluble liquid chemicals that are expected to be in continuous contact with the protective clothing material.

Method B is applicable to testing for gaseous chemicals that are expected to be in continuous contact with the protective clothing material.

Method C is applicable to tests against volatile or water-soluble gaseous and liquid chemicals that are expected to be in intermittent contact with the protective clothing material.

These test methods evaluate the permeability resistance of protective clothing material in laboratory conditions in terms of puncture time, permeation rate and cumulative permeability. These test methods also allow qualitative observations of the effects of the test chemical on the material being tested.

These test methods are only suitable for measuring the permeability of liquids and gases. These test methods only consider the performance of materials or structures of certain materials (eg seams).
