The Canadian Electrical Code, CE code, or CSA C22.1 standard is a standard published by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) in Canada regarding the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment.
The CSA-C22.2 standard is a collection of individual standards for the evaluation of electrical equipment or installations. The first part of this standard (CSA C22.1) requires the approval of electrical products according to the second part standard (CSA C22.2).
The CSA C22.2 set of standards is safety standards aimed primarily at providing the requirements for the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment to address fire and electric shock hazards. These standards have a wide range of applications. This series of standards is frequently used by security inspectors, security experts, workplace safety committees, legislators, government authorities, leading manufacturers, large product distributors and retailers.
This standard basically regulates the following requirements: design, production, equipment that complies with standards, safety and protection, material and work quality, marking and general quality tests. These requirements apply to all individual standards in the CSA-C22.2 set of standards.
The individual standards of the standard in question define it for a single class or group of nearby electrical equipment and describe the requirements for production, marking and testing. The purpose of these individual standards is to ensure that users are injured and possible damage is prevented, with appropriate design, good manufacturing and high work quality.
These safety standards aim to provide the requirements for the design and manufacture of electrical equipment, primarily for fire and electric shock hazards and in accordance with the rules in CSA C22.1.
