EN 13277-4 Martial Protective Equipment - Part 4: Additional Requirements and Test Methods for Head Protectors

The protection zone starts from the lower edge of the head protector in the forehead area. The protection zone should cover the entire head circumference at the front, sides and back of the head. The position of the head protector on the head should be determined in the information provided by the manufacturer.

To measure the protection zone, the head protector must be prepared so that the protection zone is stretched with a flat surface. If the structure of the head guard cannot provide this stretch, the head guard will be cut off.
