EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 943-1 standard. This part of the EN 943 standard specifies the minimum requirements, test methods, marking and information provided by the manufacturer for vented and non-ventilated gas-tight chemical protective clothing.

EN 943-1 Chemical Protective Clothing - Part 1: Performance Requirements for Type 1 (Gas Tight) Chemical Protective Clothing

Specifies full body personal protective suits to be worn for protection against solid, liquid and gaseous chemicals, including liquid and solid aerosols. This standard does not specify minimum criteria for protection for non-chemical hazards such as radiological, fire, heat, explosive hazards, infectious agents. This type of equipment is not designed for complete immersion in liquids.

Seams, joints and assemblies connecting accessories are covered by this standard. Basic performance criteria for components such as gloves, boots or respiratory protective equipment are given in other Standards and additional requirements are provided in this standard. Particle protection is limited to physical penetration of particles only.

Chemicals such as severe air sensitive reagents, labile explosives and cryogenic liquids are not considered as protection against these additional hazards is beyond the scope of this standard.

This European Standard requires that various building materials and components of clothing be tested for resistance to chemical permeability. Where more than one chemical is tested, each building component and material will be tested against each chemical. For materials and components intended for reuse, preconditioning and conditioning will be done in accordance with EN 14325.

Chemical protective clothing construction materials (i.e. materials used to make the suit, booties, boots, gloves and (if applicable) visor) must meet all non-optional testing requirements. It can be carried out at the discretion of the manufacturer in accordance with the intended use. Components such as integrated overshoes or boots, integrated gloves must also meet the minimum performance requirements of the relevant product standard.

Where safety shoes are tested for permeation resistance, the test sample should be taken from the thinnest point of the shoe up to the sole. Construction materials shall comply with all subsections of EN ISO 13688.
