This part of EN ISO 17491 specifies a method to be performed at minimum test settings (Method 1) or more stringent test settings (Method 2) to evaluate the resistance of a gastight suit to air penetration through the sample.
This test does not simulate the inward penetration of gases. Although the danger to the user is due to inward leakage, this test method evaluates the outward air leakage after the gastight suit has been inflated to stretch the construction material, thus allowing the test method to detect very minor defects.
